November 20, 2010 – “The Art of Relaxation” Benefiting The Salvation Army
Veteran’s Passion Benefits A Different Army –The Salvation Army.
When US Army Colonel (retired) Cindy Woodling left active duty to pursue her passion for painting, she never expected her art to benefit a totally different kind of army, the Salvation Army, nor did she expect to trade in her metal military canteen for a china teacup – – but her collection of original art, titled “The Art of Relaxation”, will be exhibited during an afternoon tea at a local Sarasota bay front home the weekend before Thanksgiving, with all proceeds going to benefit the Salvation Army of Sarasota.
The sometimes harsh realities of both nursing and military life inspire Woodling to create art which centers on the restorative properties of nature and celebrates “the spirit of humans to persevere”. That message fits right in with Salvation Army’s work, where Woodling has served as mentor and teacher in the F.A.I.T.H. program, focused on helping homeless families. “The Art of Relaxation” private exhibition and afternoon tea is being held at the Sarasota home of Donald and Paulette Vitrier Blair on November 20, 2010.
