Sarasota Realtor Honored As Humanitarian Of Year
WCR Names Charlotte Hedge Humanitarian Of The Year.
The Women’s Council of Realtors (WCR) announced that Charlotte Hedge, a member of the Sarasota Association of Realtors, was named its 2010 Humanitarian of the Year. The award was presented during the Sarasota Florida Chapter’s recent awards ceremony.
This year’s Humanitarian of the Year award winner proves that Realtors make a difference in communities and Charlotte’s passion for the Sarasota community is demonstrated through her commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs. This is the second time Charlotte was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year—the first was in 2001, when she received the first award presented by the Sarasota Association of Realtors.
Hedge, a Broker-Associate with Signature Sotheby’s Realty, dedicates herself to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County where she has taught knitting each week to children for the past five years and has been a Board member, along with her husband Tom, since 1993. “I believe children are important, to our future, to our community and I have hope and confidence that our work is shielding and actually guiding our children for brighter futures in a robust Sarasota, “said Hedge.
Hedge, a successful Realtor since 1992, also spent this last year raising money for “Amy’s Fund”, a fund for Amy Worth-Paul’s State presidency installation in 2013. Charlotte donates a hand knitted scarf from her “Charlotte’s Webs” collection each month to help raise monies for WCR. Why? Because “through our influence as successful business professionals, women will effect positive change in the profession and in the broader community…it is our vision,” said Hedge.
“Charlotte has the ability to bring the best out of every situation, the first time I met her, she exuded warmth and quiet confidence, we met at a WCR Country Western event in 1992, and she became my Realtor, and most importantly she became my friend and cohort at The Boys and Girls Club,” said Judy Weaver, another knitting volunteer.
In the past and present Hedge has also served in numerous capacities for SPARCC, The Arts Council, The Sarasota Ballet, Asolo, and Habitat for Humanity.
