Siesta Key Kitchen Lands ShelCidy An Award
ShelCidy Awarded The Platinum Kitchen Award.
ShelCidy Custom Remodeling was awarded the Platinum Kitchen Award for its Siesta Key kitchen remodeling project by SRQ Magazine. The award is part of the magazine’s annual Home of the Year contest, awarded by out-of-town independent judges and announced in the March 2011 issue.
“We opened up the kitchen to the family room and bay views, and the island was expanded to give it more work space and dining area,” said Dewey Brannon, president of ShelCidy Custom Remodeling. “The longer upper cabinets and the use of tiles on the upper walls added an expanded vertical appearance, as well. Custom materials included polished concrete countertops with randomly distributed colored glass pieces, Sicis wall tile handcrafted in Italy, polished onyx floors, and Wolfe high-end appliances.”
The concept behind the remodel was to change the existing traditional kitchen into a eclectic, unique style, and give it an open and functional layout. The original kitchen had dark cabinets and granite, and a small center island, that was separated from the family room with a high bar, limiting the bay view and making the kitchen seem small and closed in.
