Big Brothers Big Sisters Keeping You Informed
Big Brothers Big Sisters Of The Sun Coast Update.
There may be some confusion over the closing of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Florida in Charlotte, Lee and Collier Counties. Big Brothers Big Sisters Of The Sun Coast would like to emphasize that Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast continues to be a strong organization both financially and in the programs we offer, with over 40 years of service to our area’s children. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast continues to serve children in six counties, including Manatee, Sarasota, Highlands, Hardee, DeSoto and west Charlotte. Joy Mahler, our President and CEO, has served in this capacity for 28 years.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast is developing a business plan to determine the feasibility of expansion in those areas previously served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Florida. We will provide details once a firm plan is in place.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast’s service delivery model allows for us to explore and possibly expand our service area to include Charlotte, Lee, Collier, and Hendry and Glades counties. Before moving forward with any changes, however, we are first and foremost concerned about the children and are exploring options to ensure they are taken care of. As you know, one-to-one mentoring has a direct, positive impact on children, changing their lives for the better, forever.
