Fingernails are like mirrors, reflecting information when the body suffers from disease, infection or severe dietary deficiency. Doctors often watch the nails carefully during an operation, if the nail pales or takes on a bluish tint, it could be a sign of dropping blood pressure or an early state of shock. A healthy, well balanced diet leads to healthy nails.

Deficiencies In Diet Can Lead To The Following:

• Dry, Brittle Nails – Vitamin A or Calcium deficiency
• Fragile Nails With Horizontal And Vertical Ridges – Vitamin B deficiency
• Opaque White Bands – Possible shortage of protein, Vitamin A, Calcium or Iron.
• Concave Nail – Iron deficiency
• White Spots – Possible lack of Zinc, but more likely a blow or small trauma to the nail.
