Community Has 30 Days To Decide Fast Life’s Fate
MTO’s Fast Life Receives Stay Of Execution.
Slated to be painted over today at noon, French artist MTO’s (from Berlin) “Fast Life” receives 30 day reprieve for the community to reconsider options.
Spending just 20 days in Sarasota, his first visit to the U.S., it is important to understand MTO’s viewpoint on his original artwork – the largest piece he has done to date.

“Fast Life is for me an interesting piece. The recent reactions around it, make it even more interesting. Cause it’s no gang sign (like this woman Allison thought), it’s not making a “E” (like used in East coast) neither “W” (used in West coast) but simply “M” for “MTO” and fast life is how we lived in Sarasota (Chalk Festival): really fast and compact time. This “fast life” is kind of even more significant “life is short” precisely for the reason that we live fast. That’s why “RUN SRQ” sounded like a good title… to my work in Sarasota, because that’s actually what we’ve done: we’ve run in Sarasota the whole time to paint as much as possible.”
