Take Stock In Children Sarasota Graduates 35 Children.
Take Stock in Children Sarasota will celebrate the graduation of 35 low-income high school seniors at the Celebration of Hope in Sarasota County on Thursday, May 10 at The Chelsea Center at 6:30 p.m. Each of these students will receive full scholarships to attend any state college or university in Florida of their choice upon graduation. Take Stock in Children is a statewide non-profit organization with a solid history of breaking the cycle of poverty by providing scholarships, mentors and hope.
“This is a milestone achievement for Take Stock in Children as we celebrate breaking the cycle of poverty through education,” says Lisa Bechtold, executive director of Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County. “We are extremely proud of our students who will now take the next steps and make their college dreams a reality.”
This graduation signifies that these students have met with their Take Stock in Children mentor once per week, maintained a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and remained drug and crime free. This is the commitment that each Take Stock in Children scholar makes upon joining the program in order to receive a college scholarship.
This year’s theme is Vintage Hollywood with black and white attire for the evening. The evening would not be possible without the wonderful Paul Mattison and Mattison’s City Grille, PNC Wealth Management and Greenhouse Fabrics. Individual tickets are $25, Half Table Sponsor is $250 and Full Table Sponsorship is $500.
