SCSC Awarded NASC Member of the Year
Sarasota County Sports Commission Wins Big.
Recently the Sarasota County Sports Commission (SCSC) attended the National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Annual Symposium where they were awarded Member of the Year for the budget category of $100,000 to $300,000. NASC Symposium attendees are sports event organizers, national sports governing bodies, sports commissions and convention and visitors bureaus.
The criteria for this award includes the quality of the sporting events brought to community, samples of events from which the community as a whole received benefit, evidence that the organization’s activities benefited community organizations financially or otherwise, and typed statements of support from community organizations affected by the organization’s activities.
“It is an honor for the Sports Commission to win this award because it is judged by our peers in the industry. The letters of support from our local organizations are a great reminder of the impact sports tourism has on our community. Everyone on our staff and in the local sports community had a hand in winning this award,” stated Jason Puckett, Director of Sports, SCSC.
Also at the event, Puckett graduated from the Certified Sports Event Executive (CSEE) program. Graduates must receive eight credits to graduate, and the process usually takes four years to complete.
The SCSC is a division of the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau. For more information, contact Puckett at 941-955-0991, ext. 105, or jpuckett@sarasotafl.org.
