Two Day Cat Adoption Event A Success
Cat Depot, with assistance from the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), found homes for 110 cats during a two-day adoption event on August 11th and 12th. Cat Depot announced today it is committed to the remaining 40 cats out of the original 150 rescued cats that have been sheltered in Sarasota since July 28.
Events were also hosted by the Jacksonville Humane Society and Humane Society of Pinellas which overall drew more than 1,600 people to adopt nearly 300 cats rescued from Caboodle Ranch, a not-for-profit corporation located in Lee, Fla.
“We are not giving up on the remaining 40 cats,” said Shelley Thayer, Executive Director of Cat Depot. “Cat Depot is committed to getting them into loving homes. Potential adopters can still meet the cats at Cat Depot beginning August 17th.”
The adoption fee will again be a $10 donation. Cats will be provided care for immediate medical needs. All cats have had veterinary checkups, are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated and have a collar with an ID tag, all free of charge to qualified adopters.
Cat Depot is open Monday through Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am-5pm. Handicap accessible. Cat Depot is located at 2542 17th Street, Sarasota, FL 34234. For more information visit www.catdepot.org or call 941.366.2404.
