Dennis Murphy Now Executive Vice President and Senior Loan Officer.
Shaun P. Merriman, President and CEO of Gateway Bank of Southwest Florida, announced that Dennis Murphy was promoted to Executive Vice President and Senior Loan Officer. “We are thrilled to recognize Murphy’s outstanding leadership accomplishments in this vital position within our organization,” says Merriman. “In this challenging banking environment, Murphy’s excellent credit and lending skills have been instrumental and invaluable to Gateway’s success.”
Murphy joined Gateway Bank in January 2008, as Vice President/Commercial Lender, and is responsible for the Bank’s credit administration, loan production, and loan operations divisions. In January 2013, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Senior Loan Officer for exemplary work performance, as evidenced by the Bank’s excellent FDIC and OFR exam results, strong asset quality and loan production. Murphy continues to perform exceptionally well, and has thus earned his most recent promotion to Executive Vice President.
Murphy began his career in banking 13 years ago and has held positions such as Banking Center Manager, Lead Credit Analyst, Commercial Lending Officer, and Commercial Banking Manager. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including Gateway’s “CEO Award” for outstanding performance in 2011, and the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a national award recognizing individuals who contribute over 100 volunteer service hours in their communities per year.
Murphy is active in the local community, currently serving on the Finance Committee of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Sarasota Tomorrow Oversight Council “STOC.” He is a board member and Treasurer for First Tee of Sarasota/Manatee, and an active participant of the Commercial Investment Division (“CID”) of the Sarasota Association of Realtors, as well as other industry related networking groups. A graduate of the University of Florida, Murphy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance and minoring in Economics. He earned his MBA at the University of South Florida in 2003. He is also a 2009 graduate of Leadership Sarasota County.
