The Day of Infamy that launched the epic conflict with Japan took place at Pearl Harbor in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941. The tranquil waters of Pearl Harbor were forever disrupted by the tides of war. That morning all 8 U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with 4 sunk. The Japanese also sank or damaged 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, 1 anti-aircraft training ship, and 1 minelayer. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed. 2,402 Americans were killed (The Arizona 1,177) and 1,282 wounded. All Men Are Created Equal Then Some Become Marines.

The official birthday of the United States Marine Corps is on the 10th of November 1775. That was the day when the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines with the following decree:

That two battalions of Marines be raised consisting of one Colonel, two lieutenant-colonels, two majors and other officers, as usual in other regiments; that they consist of an equal number of privates as with other battalions, that particular care be taken that no persons be appointed to offices, or enlisted into said battalions, but such as are good seamen, or so acquainted with maritime affairs as to be able to serve for and during the present war with Great Britain and the Colonies; unless dismissed by Congress; that they be distinguished by the names of the First and Second Battalions of Marines.

September 2019 Real Estate Activity In Sarasota Manatee

Sarasota and Manatee single family home, condo and townhome sales – including distressed sales.

September saw single-family home sales increase over 2018, pushing sales volume up to $262.2 million in Sarasota, while Manatee County saw an increase to $205.3 million. Single family inventory is slightly down in both counties. Condo sales are slightly up in the two county area while inventory holds steady in Sarasota and rose slightly in Manatee.
