The Ringling Introduces Gardens Walking Tour. This walking tour will introduce you to interesting botanical specimens on the estate while providing a historic overview of the development of the estate. The Ringling Arboretum has over 2350 trees within the arboretum representing native, exotic, historical, and culturally significant trees. Garden Tours are offered on Mondays at 1:00-2:30 PM. The tour is 90 minutes in length and covers approximately 1 mile. We encourage visitors to bring bottled water, and wear appropriate footwear, preferably closed-toe, sunblock, and hats. Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards Arts Appreciation Grant. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art was awarded a $50,000 Arts Appreciation Grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. The grant offers support for the museum’s Art of Our Time initiative during the 2019-2020 season. The Skyspace, created by internationally-renowned artist James Turrell, is a gathering place for contemplation, and sustained experience. Zodiac LEGO (2018) is a series of individual works that is constructed of Lego bricksto represent the following animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. Zodiac LEGO will be on view at The Ringling in the Keith and Linda Monda Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery, November 17, 2019–February 2, 2020. The Ringling is the first museum in the United States to show this traveling exhibition. Ungala Returns. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art announced the return of a much-loved signature event, UnGala 2019; The Evolution. The Evolution will be held in the Museum of Art Courtyard Oct. 19, 2019. Evolution was chosen as the theme for UnGala 2019 to celebrate the return of this iconic affair’s 35th anniversary of the original UnGala.
