The artist states “The series is called: In Your Face, the Power of Portraiture and was inspired by a book of early 20th century portraits Loveberry found in the library. Pictures From a Drawer, Prison and the Art of Portraiture by Bruce Jackson included small prison ID photos that were digitally restored and enlarged by the author. They are kept in physical and emotional bondage through violence, fraud, coercion, and addiction. Backyard Sterilization Program Offers Free Spay/Neuter. Cat Depot announced it was the recipient of $25,000 from the Florida Animal Friend spay/neuter license plate grant. The funding will provide free spay/neuter for personal cats as part of Cat Depot’s Backyard Sterilization Program which covers zip codes 34234 and 34237. Recipients must meet government low income guidelines. Each spay/neuter will include a Rabies vaccine, flea treatment and microchip with a free lifetime registration. Premier Sports Campus Hosts Soccer Tournament. Premier Sports Campus (PSC) in Lakewood Ranch will host its annual Labor Day weekend soccer tournament from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1. Nathan Benderson Park To Host Sarasota SUP Series Race. The 2nd race in the Sarasota Stand Up Paddleboarding series moves to Nathan Benderson Park, Saturday, August 23rd. The races include: Elite 10 K Races, Open 5 K Races, Half Mile Grom Race, Dash for Cash Sprint Races, Landboard Race and Penny Skateboard Course Competition.
