National Chicken Wing Day Rightfully Proclaimed In 1977 By Buffalo Mayor Stan Makowski. Today, National Chicken Wing Day encourages a frenzy of dipping and sauce tasting. Also known as buffalo wings, hot wings or just wings, we each consume about 290 wings per year. While a chicken has two wings per bird, it produces four of these tasty morsels.
