Established in 1982, in Palmetto Florida, Southeastern Guide Dogs is a remarkable nonprofit organization providing guide dogs to people with visual impairments all over the country.

March 28th is Max’s “gotcha” day. It was two years ago on that day that I received Max, my yellow lab from Southeastern Guide Dogs. I have a degenerative retinal disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa, which has reduced my field of vision to just a sliver, and destroyed all my night vision.

My wife Alisa and I have raised four guide dog puppies over the years…Wafer, Dagmar, Nessie and Mac. We decided to work with the guide dogs as a way to help those with sight challenges in our community.
