Groundbreaking For Ringling Museum Expansion Scheduled
Ringling Museum Tibbals Learning Center Expansion To Break Ground.
Groundbreaking for the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Tibbals Learning Center expansion project takes place Saturday, January 23rd at 1pm. Groundbreaking will be held in conjunction with the Celebrate Circus Family Festival. The Circus Museum’s Tibbals Learning Center will add 12,000 square feet of exhibition space and 12,000 square feet of storage space. Willis A. Smith Construction will handle the construction. The project was designed by FleischmanGarcia. Both firms reside in Sarasota, Florida.
The Circus Museum’s Tibbals Learning Center is home to the world’s largest miniature circus. Philanthropist and master model builder Howard Tibbals provided a $4 million gift to fund the expansion project which was partially matched by the state in 2008. Tibbals’ gift to the museum in 2000 enabled construction of the Tibbals Learning Center and the establishment of an endowment.
Additional funds are needed to complete the exhibition space. If you wish to help out please contact the Ringling Museum Development Office at (941) 359-5700 extension. 5803.
