Mayor’s Feed The Hungry Program Receives $1,115. Music Compound presented Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program with a donation in the amount of $1,115. The donation was raised at the 4th annual Beer, Bands, and BBQ event. “The Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program was delighted to receive a generous donation from the recent fundraiser. Remember Pearl Harbor. The Day of Infamy that launched the epic conflict with Japan took place at Pearl Harbor in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941. The tranquil waters of Pearl Harbor were forever disrupted by the tides of war. That morning all 8 U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with 4 sunk. The Japanese also sank or damaged 3 cruisers, 3 destroyers, 1 anti-aircraft training ship, and 1 minelayer. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed. 2,402 Americans were killed (The Arizona 1,177) and 1,282 wounded. Suncoast Charities for Children recognized the Sarasota Board of County Commissioners for their grant support, through Visit Sarasota, towards the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival during their November 27th meeting.
