Cat Depot Shelters 30 Confiscated Cats. Cat Depot reached out to assist in the care of 30 cats confiscated by Manatee County Animal Services earlier this week from a possible hoarding situation. Emergency sheltering was set up at Cat Depot in preparation of their arrival today. Cat Depot is asking for volunteers to help with daily sheltering care (feeding, cleaning, and socialization). Two daily work shifts are available: 8:00 am to 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers interested in helping, please email Corey at CoreyR@catdepot.org, or call (941) 366-2404. Cat Depot’s Cats Takes To The Gridiron Field. Most are familiar with Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl, this year’s Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl, and now there is The Cat Depot Bowl. Featuring adoptable cats and kittens, Cat Depot produced an in-house a video collage of frolicking cats and kittens on their own football field including a team playlist of adoptable cats. Thunder By The Bay Economic Impact Study Released

Thunder By The Bay Rocks! The direct and indirect overall economic impact of 2014’s Thunder By The Bay Motorcycle Festival was calculated at $7.4 Million (8.7% increase from 2013) and 5,400 room nights in area lodgings (up from 2,900 in 2013). Final budget numbers are still being calculated, however, a conservative projection show an increase in net revenue for Suncoast Charities for Children (projected to come in at over $100,000). Animal Services Officers Attend Cruelty Training

Officers Steve Bell & Rick Browning Gain Certification. Manatee County Animal Services Officers Steve Bell and Rick Browning attended the National Animal Cruelty Investigations School offered by the Law Enforcement Training Institute, an extension of the University of Missouri. The training was to become certified Level 1 Professional Investigators in the field of Animal Cruelty.  The week long class was held January 13th, 2014 through January 17th, 2014, at the Palm Beach Animal Control facility in West Palm Beach Florida.  This training was made possible through a generous grant from the ASPCA.
